One of the things I love most about living in Charlotte is how dog-friendly the city has become. Whether you're grabbing coffee in Elizabeth, meeting friends for happy hour in South End, or spending a Saturday afternoon exploring NoDa, chances are you'll find plenty of four-legged companions along the way.
If you're looking for dog-friendly things to do in Charlotte this summer, here are some of my favorite spots throughout the city's in-town neighborhoods.
A neighborhood favorite with a spacious patio and Mediterranean-inspired menu. It's the perfect stop after a walk along Little Sugar Creek Greenway.
Known for its lively atmosphere and large outdoor patio, RuRu's is a great spot to enjoy tacos, margaritas, and a summer evening with your pup.
One of my favorite spots in Elizabeth. The patio is ideal for people watching while enjoying a cocktail, dinner, or weekend brunch with your dog nearby.
A Charlotte staple. Grab a sandwich, a cold drink, and relax outdoors with your dog while soaking in the neighborhood vibe.
If Charlotte had a dog-friendly hall of fame, OMB would be on it. The sprawling biergarten offers plenty of room for dogs and their humans to spread out and enjoy the afternoon.
Located near South End, Triple C features a welcoming outdoor space and regular food trucks, making it a favorite gathering place for dog owners.
A Charlotte classic with a laid-back atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a steady stream of friendly pups.
Part dog park, part neighborhood bar, this NoDa institution allows dogs to play off-leash while owners enjoy a drink and meet fellow dog lovers.
One of the best ways to spend a summer morning. Grab a coffee, browse local shops, and stroll the Rail Trail with your dog while enjoying one of Charlotte's most walkable districts.
A local favorite for shopping, dining, and running errands without leaving your furry sidekick at home.
While dogs aren't allowed inside the food hall itself, the outdoor gathering spaces make for a great stop after exploring nearby neighborhoods and greenways.
Charlotte's growing network of parks and greenways makes it easy to stay active with your dog year-round. These are some of the best dog parks in Charlotte for off-leash fun and socializing.
One of the newest and most exciting dog-friendly destinations in the Charlotte area. This off-leash park includes beach access and lakefront areas where dogs can splash, swim, and play.
Located just outside Uptown Charlotte, Frazier Park is a convenient option with separate sections for small and large dogs.
A spacious, partially shaded dog park in northwest Charlotte with plenty of room to run.
A favorite among East Charlotte dog owners, this park offers open space for play along with nearby walking trails and greenways.
Start the morning with a walk along Little Sugar Creek Greenway, grab lunch at Kid Cashew, spend the afternoon exploring Atherton Mill and the Rail Trail, then finish the day with a cold drink at The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery.
It's a pretty perfect Charlotte summer day for both you and your dog.
One of the reasons so many people love living in Charlotte with dogs is that the city offers a unique blend of walkable neighborhoods, pet-friendly businesses, parks, breweries, and greenways. Whether you're a longtime resident or considering a move to Charlotte, you'll quickly discover that some of the city's best experiences are even better when shared with a four-legged friend.
