Why We Joined Intown Golf Club in SouthPark

After sharing information about Charlotte’s country clubs, I thought it would be helpful to share what Steven and I decided to do.

We joined Intown Golf Club in SouthPark.

We enjoy golf and wanted to be part of a club community, but a traditional country club didn’t make the most sense for us right now.

We live in Elizabeth, and we didn’t want to commit to one of the clubs that felt too far away for us to use regularly. The clubs closer to home aren’t in our budget at this point, either.

I think it’s worth being honest about that. I help people consider homes and lifestyles at different price points, but Steven and I have our own budget and priorities, just like anyone else.

For us, Intown was a good fit.

I Actually Prefer Simulator Golf

I know some golfers will disagree with me on this, but I really enjoy playing on a simulator.

A big reason is time. We can get through a round in less than two hours, which makes it much easier to fit golf into our schedules.

I don’t always have an entire afternoon to spend on a course. Being able to play a round without setting aside most of the day means I get to enjoy it more often.

And the weather doesn’t determine whether we play. Rain, heat or cold outside doesn’t have to change our plans.

For me, that convenience makes a big difference.

We Still Enjoy Getting Out on the Course

Joining Intown doesn’t mean we’ve stopped playing outdoor golf.

We enjoy Charlotte’s municipal courses, too. That gives us the option to get outside and play when we have the time and the weather cooperates.

I like having both. We have a place to play simulator golf and a club community to be part of, and we can still enjoy a round outdoors without committing to one country club.

That combination works well for us.

Location Was a Big Part of the Decision

Living in Elizabeth, we thought carefully about how often we would realistically make the drive to different clubs.

A membership can sound great in theory, but you have to want to make the trip.

SouthPark made sense for us. We felt it would be easier to fit into our routine, and that mattered more than choosing a club simply because it was one we had heard about or admired.

It’s similar to a conversation I have with buyers about homes. Think about an ordinary week, not just how something feels when you visit on a day with nothing else scheduled.

We Wanted the Community, Too

Golf was part of the decision, but so was having a place where we could spend time and feel connected.

You can enjoy playing public courses and still want that sense of belonging to a club. For us, those two things work together.

Intown gives us the club piece, while municipal golf keeps outdoor rounds in the mix.

We didn’t have to make one choice that covered every possible way we might want to enjoy golf.

It’s What Works for Us Right Now

I share this because the country club conversation can sometimes make it seem like there’s one particular path you’re supposed to take.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy golf in Charlotte.

A traditional country club may be a great fit for you. A social membership might be all you need. Or you may find, like we did, that simulator golf paired with rounds at municipal courses suits your life really well.

For Steven and me, the shorter rounds, weather flexibility, location and club community made Intown the right choice for this stage of our lives.

And yes, I’ll happily take the simulator.
