Starting a new business in the midst of Covid-19

Updated: Mar 23, 2020

My real estate marketing plan is a bit on on hold but like everyone else, I'm making the most of my time at home. This wasn't the intro I had intended but I there is no time to waste.

Hi, I’m Jessica Grier. A bit about me—I have proudly called Charlotte my home for over a decade. Over the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of working at Grandfather Homes, a premier builder in Charlotte and just recently decided to take the leap in to general brokerage with Premier Sotheby's International Realty. During my time working with a builder I was able to hone my skills as an expert in the luxury and new construction market, specializing in areas like Eastover, Myers Park, Foxcroft, Cotswold, Midwood and of course my home neighborhood Elizabeth. In that, I will be listing and selling homes in the Charlotte market and I can't wait to be working with each of you again in one way or another very soon.

My intention for this blog is to have a space secondary to my professional website to forum any questions you might have about the Charlotte lifestyle and provide information on the luxury new construction industry.

A special message regarding this moment of time we are currently in:

In our industry, we rely heavily on social media, blogs and our websites for marketing and in no way did I expect to launch a new brand and business in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. It’s hard to be upbeat and have fun things to post during this time of uncertainty, but here is what I know. I know that this will pass. The stock market is up and down. The FED has dropped their rate to zero and while we still don’t know how that translates into mortgage rates long-term, people are still buying and selling real estate.

Real estate is still a safe place to put your money. It’s proving substantially stronger than the stock market. And I know you are probably thinking, “yeah but is it safe for me to be out and about to look at real estate?”

We real estate agents are taking appropriate measures to ensure that tours are done virtually or privately (obviously sanitizing appropriately before and after entry) and even providing showings via FaceTime.

Where do we go from here? This is new territory for everyone. It is crucial that we avoid contact with each other for the time being. However, there are many ways to be present without close contact. In the small urban village where my husband and I live, we still try to make an effort to get out and go for walks. We invite our neighbors to come outside for a spatially maintained chat. Lastly, I have been receiving a lot of calls regarding what my thoughts are on the market and where things are going. It's important for me to provide you all the information that I can. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to pick up the phone and call, text or email me.
